Monday Memo 7/15
What an incredible weekend to be an Otter!!! We had 49 Otters take a scenic trip around the canyon with their families to beautiful Quincy at a super fun camping swim meet. Orland Otters brought home a 1st Place TEAM trophy for collectively scoring 1,744 points in the Plumas Rapids Invitational! The 2nd place team was Durham Dolphins, 365 points trailing us, followed by Chico Aquajets for 3rd still 713 pts behind us. Wowza! We also had 4 Otters in Elk Grove swimming at the Bill Rose Classic Junior Olympics this weekend winning heats and putting Orland on the map! We couldn't be prouder of our seasonal team barely 8 weeks in the water, attaining personal bests and THRIVING this season.
Congrats to the following HIGH POINT Winners for the Quincy Invitational:
1. Reese Zuppan - 1st place, 9-10yo Boys
2. Hailey Knight - 2nd place, 7-8yo Girls
3. Trent van Tol - 2nd place, 7-8yo Boys
4. Harley Reimers - 2nd place, 9-10yo Girls

Speaking of THRIVING: our very own home swim meet with hundreds of kiddos coming from hundreds of miles around is approaching THIS weekend 7/20 & 21. We would LOVE to have all 134 Otters Swim and so far we have 72 signed up. How can we help you sign up for our event? Here is the link to register: https://ome.swimconnection.com/meets
This event is super special as we award SEASONAL versus YEAR ROUND swimmers separately, just like NVAL Championships!! So your Otter will know how he/she is doing against peers who have also been in the water these few summer weeks instead of perfecting their strokes all year round. We highly encourage you to sign up your Otter at our very own meet at our beautiful Orland Pool this weekend. Max is 4 events each day. If you're already signed up please cruise over to swimtopia and take a look at both Saturday and Sunday open jobs and see if you or literally ANYONE you know (grandparents, coworkers, family, friends, a service club member like Rotary or buddy from the grocery store) can come HELP us fill those jobs so our kiddos can have an amazingly smooth meet! We appreciate so very much all the parents who have far surpassed their 20 volunteer hours and continue to help. Especially in this heat, we need all the help we can get to make sure we all keep ourselves healthy and in turn our Otters healthy and happy. Let us know if you know of someone that can help! We asked Orland Rotary and we got 3 timers coming over to fill 8 timing shifts for 1 hour each. Amazing! We still have a lot of shifts needing to be filled. Even if you don't have an Otter swimming this weekend and fund yourself still reading this email PLEASE SIGN UP WE NEED YOUR HELP. 🙏🏾
Finally, Coach Mikayla really wanted our board to emphasize NVALs, North Valley Aquatic League Championships is for all our local teams to compete against each other in Redding (also separately awarding Seasonal and Year Round swimmers to truly match training) at the culmination of our summer season. Coach Mikayka will be talking to swimmers about NVALs this week and we hope you can join us next weekend in Redding to attend this Championship meet. Registration closes this Thursday 7/18 and the max is 3 events per day for all 3 days. We would love for our Otters to attain more personal bests as we conclude our fun summer together. Please let us know if you have any questions and we sure hope to see you at our lawn meeting tomorrow, 7pm on front of the pool.
Best,
Your Otter Board 💙🦦
